Only the Phonies
“Only the phonies don’t end up enlightened.”
Or so, Adya’s teacher told him.
Or so, I keep reminding myself. “Otherwise, we’re chasing what someone told us.”

I find looking in the mirror and asking "Who am I?" an ineffective method. "What am I? feels more appropriate. But even that misses what gets wrestled with these days. Paradox: How does nothing live as something?
Have you seen this Ben Smythe? Wish I could embed it. It suggests to me that "Only the phonies GET enlightened" may be as true as what Adya said. And he makes his point with humor.
So who or what is it that wrestles with paradox? Who or what is being serious? Who or what makes the joke? Who or what is that 'me' that appears to write anonymous posts?
I spent over 25 years doing science: molecular genetics, PhD level lab work, publishing results.
I’ve spent over 50 years meditating: walking the mystical, mythical paths, another form of research.
I worked hard to call myself “scientist.” My friends tend to call me an “artist.” Oh, well.
“Seeing for Myself” reflects both these paths of exploration. As scientist I want to see things for myself. As mystic I never forget the search for my true Self.
Putting my discoveries into both art and essays clarifies my understanding.
I hope others might also find something of benefit here.

I've no idea.
No idea? Find out.
Look in the mirror and ask the question: Who am I?
What answer comes?
